I was tasked with creating an animation that visually interpreted a spoken passage from Roman Krznaric's book, How to be a Good Ancestor.
Concept - Regenerate Balance
My interpretation was inspired by surrealist architectural renders that showcased structures integrated into the landscape rather than built upon cleared land. This led to a conceptual pivot focused on regenerating balance between humanity and nature. The resulting piece center's on the idea of adapting around nature, rather than forcing nature to adapt to human needs.
Visual Execution
The animation visually explores this theme by showcasing the construction and existence of a house built directly into the natural landscape. This visual metaphor demonstrates the principle of finding harmony and respect between human development and the environment, directly supporting Krznaric’s call for long-term thinking and ecological responsibility.
